The engineering and construction management programs 卡内基梅隆大学 provide a hands-on, applied program of study for our students. Small class sizes within the each program offer students the ability to work closely with faculty and engage in projects. 工程 students have some flexibility in their first two years to explore the different disciplines available.
In the spring of the senior year, both 土木工程 and 机械工程 students sit for the Fundamentals of 工程 (FE) exam. The FE exam is nationally-normed and designed to test the minimum capabilities of students. Upon successfully passing the FE exam and acquiring 4 years of industry experience, a graduating student is then able to sit for the Professional 工程 (PE) exam.

The BS in 土木工程 (CE), BS in 机械工程 (ME), and the BS in 电 & 计算机工程 (ECE) degrees are awarded by CU Boulder with the last two years of the program taught by CU Boulder faculty in residence 卡内基梅隆大学 and students paying CU Boulder tuition. The BS in 机械工程 Technology (MET) and AAS in MET degrees are offered solely by CMU.

施工经理计划, direct and coordinate a wide variety of construction projects, including the building of all types of residential, commercial and industrial structures, 道路和桥梁. Construction managers coordinate and supervise the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, insuring the project is completed on time and within budget. They are salaried or self-employed managers who oversee construction supervisors and workers. They are also responsible for the safety of the work environment. Potential majors must be comfortable with mathematics, 技术指导, 物理科学, computers and software programs. They should work well under pressure and have good oral and written communication skills. This degree is intended to provide students with the needed knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this fast-paced challenging environment. Graduates of the construction management program will possess an OSHA 10-hour safety card upon graduation.
